Inspirational Thoughts on Death
Life and death are like two sides of the same coin. They are like two different ends of the same event called living in time. As soon as we are born, we start moving from the end of the birth towards the end called death. That is the reason that the death can’t be evaluated separate from life.
What takes birth will eventually die but this is not the death of life, the life continues even after the death of the form that is us. The continuation on life may not be in form that we can recognize right now or even understand but the spark of the divinity within us continues the journey. It moves from one destination to another and death being just one of the stopping points.
Someone once said- "Death is opposite of birth. What takes birth dies but the life continues."
I used to be afraid of death and then all the fears of death were stripped away from me at a young age. My grandfather had died when I was about 12 years old. He was very close to me and his untimely death made me think about the subject with great intensity. I was feeling fearful about dying and what would happen to me when I died. I was also intrigued with the whole idea of death and what happens after one dies. One day as I was deeply immersed in these thoughts on death I had a clear insight. I realized that there are only two possibilities.
* There would be complete blank after the moment of death and nothing could be felt and experienced as there was no one was available to experience it
* There would be feeling, sensation and experience left after the actual event of death. These would continue in some shape or form. Although I may not retain the physical apparatus there would still be some experience and experience.
This helped me realized that regardless of these options, I will be OK. If there was complete blank I had nothing to worry about. I would not experience anything to be afraid of. If on the other hand there was some form of experiencing left then that means that life would continue. It is just another adventure to embark upon. This knowing has helped me ever since. I have not had any fear of death from that point onwards.
